The curtain was lowered at the 9th international festival of high school theatre Juventafest at the Sarajevo Youth Theatre. These were fantastic five days of socializing, during which the audience had the opportunity to see five plays from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and an expert jury consisting of Daria Lorenci Flatz, Željko Milošević and Nermin Hamzagić awarded the Grand Prix to the members of the Youth Theatre DADOV Serbia for the play “Animal Farm”.
The Special Jury award went to the play “Who is Antigone to me?” and to young actresses from the Teleport Theatre and Youth Theatre Paraćin, Serbia
Participants also spent time together at dance, mask, puppetry and theatre forum workshops where they learned from experts in these fields, actress Aleksandra Spasojević, choreographer Jasmina Prolić, actress Maja Lučić and sociology professor Demir Mekić. Their almost perfect performance and work results during the four-day workshops the audience had the opportunity to see just before the award ceremony. It is worth pointing out that in 2019, in cooperation with the Association “Life with Down Syndrome”, Juventafest became part of the movement for inclusion, so the young people with Down syndrome participated in this year’s workshops as well.
This year’s festival also marked the continuation of cooperation with USAID through the PRO-Future peacebuilding project, which again this year gladly supported Juventafest, appreciating the creativity and energy that contributes to the cultural life of our country and active engagement of young people which is essential on our path to a better future. This vision is the foundation of the Platform for Peace of the mentioned project, which was signed the day before, on September 11, by the director of the Festival Jasna Diklić, confirming thereby the commitment of all Juventafest participants and partnership with the PRO-Future project.
