In the Centre for culture and youth in Municipality Centre Sarajevo, on the second day of the 12th Juventafest, the Acting Workshop Cultural Centre Čačak from Serbia performed its play “The Cripple of Inishmaan”.
The story of Billy was directed by Jovana Mišković and Dušan Vukašinović, while the cast of high school students from Čačak made their best effort to convey to the audience the most important aspects of a young man living on a small, isolated island, longing to leave and become someone who isn’t considered strange and who, despite everything, is always in search of the meaning of life.
In the evening, at the Sarajevo Youth Theatre, the audience had the opportunity to watch the play “2100: A Tale About Aska ” performed by the Theatre PATOS from Smederevo. The author and director, Sanja Krsmanović-Tasić, along with her acting troupe, led the audience to imagine a world where art is banned because it is deemed useless. A world where people can only breathe with masks on and where air is sold in jars.
The plays on the second day of the festival conveyed the message that it is never too late for change and rebellion and were rewarded with prolonged applause from the audience.
The following workshops also began: “Character Masks Workshop”, “Dance Workshop”, “Improv Workshop – theatresports or diversity in the community”, “Puppetry Workshop” and “Musical Theatre Workshop.” This year’s workshop for professors, drama club leaders in high schools and drama pedagogues focuses on the theme “Creation of a documentary play – youth for youth; case study of the play “Utopia”.
