On Wednesday, September 6, at 7:30 p.m., the 11th international festival of high school theatre Juventafest will be opened with a solemn ceremony at the Sarajevo Youth Theatre and the play “The Fallibility of Man” from Hungary.

Organized by the “Medija-Art” Association, Juventafest will host more than one hundred high school students from five countries from September 6 to 10, which was pointed out at today’s press conference held at the Centre for culture and youth of Municipality Centre Sarajevo, where Jasna Diklić, director of Juventafest, Emina Omerović, selector, Adis Omerović, executive coordinator of the festival, director Ernis Šljivo and actor Armin Omerović spoke on behalf of at the Centre for culture and youth of Municipality Centre Sarajevo, a long-term partner of the festival.

The selector of this year’s Juventafest said that it was difficult to choose six of the forty plays that the audience will have the opportunity to see, and this year’s plays come from Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Workshops will be traditionally held during Juventafest for festival participants. The “Character Mask” workshop will be led by actress Irma Alimanović, the “Object animation basics” workshop will be held under the mentorship of actor Stipe Gugić, the “Dance” workshop will be led by actor Edis Bilić, the musical theatre workshop “We go Together” was assigned to mentor Irma Mulić, while the workshop “Black Queen 1,2,3”  for teachers, leaders of drama clubs in high schools, will be led by drama pedagogue Iva Milley.

Since 2019, Juventafest, in cooperation with the Association “Life with Down syndrome”, has become part of the inclusion movement, and young people with Down syndrome will participate in workshops this year as well. As part of the 11th Juventafest, the presentation “Drama pedagogy in schools, key factors for the success of inclusive drama creativity” will be held.

The jury of the 11th Juventafest consists of Serbian director Milica Kralj, Bosnian-Herzegovinian actress Gordana Boban and graphic designer and professor Sandro Drinovac.

The festival will be closed with workshop presentations and the awarding of the Grand Prix and Special Jury Award on Sunday, September 10.
